Guinness Radio Record at ALIVE 90.5FM in Australia with AEQ technology

The broadcaster has decided to install the AEQ CAPITOL IP digital console as the heart of the system

Radio Alive is a community radio station based in Baulkham Hills, from where it serves the Hills District and parts of Greater Western Sydney. Founded in 1992, it has been broadcasting since its inception on 90.5 MHz FM and currently also on its website. The station’s programming features a predominantly contemporary music and community information format, including public assistance sections.

Mario Bekes is one of Radio Alive’s most popular presenters, and last June he performed the longest uninterrupted radio show in history for a total of 55hr 26min, which has now even been recognised by the Guinness Book of Records. The conditions of the challenge to become valid and official were very clear, as host Mario and his guests could not be interrupted by any outside music, announcements or phone calls. The world record was achieved although in Mario Bekes’ own words it was a strange, unconventional programme, but the important thing is that the goal was achieved and all thanks to the support of the station’s staff and all the guests.

The entire programme was conducted from the main studio of Radio Alive 90.5FM where all signals and microphones are managed by an AEQ CAPITOL digital audio console, selected by the station’s technical management for its high audio quality, robustness and easy operation. The installation and configuration of the system was carried out by AEQ’s local partner in the country, Broadcast Components.

AEQ CAPITOL IP is an 8 fader fixed configuration Digital Audio mixing console. In CAPITOL IP the implementation of IP connectivity is based on a single module of 16 input and 16 output channels, incorporated in its core. One of the main qualities of AEQ CAPITOL IP is the wide input capacity available: 4 mic/line, 12 analogue, 4 digital stereo AES/EBU (AES3), 2 digital stereo USB, 2 optional telephone lines, and extra digital multichannel audio links; 16 AoIP channels over two ethernet connectors or 64 MADI channels input over optical fibre.
